Sophie Hamel is a Los Angeles-based French writer. She's a PEN/Robert J. Dau nominee, a PEN Emerging Voices Workshop LA, and a MVICW poet & author award fellow. Her short stories have been published in the Summerset Review and the Plentitudes Journal. She is part of the Adroit Journal editorial staff and is a WriteGirl mentor. Her debut novel UNEARTHED is being reviewed by agents.

 

A former archaeologist with a Master’s degree of the ancient Mediterranean and Middle East from La Sorbonne and a postgraduate diploma from the Institute of Higher Studies in Art (IESA), Paris, she participated in numerous excavation campaigns in France and the Middle East, took a dive into the Indian contemporary art world while in Bangalore, before becoming a faculty manager for an online art school in Los Angeles, where she now lives with her husband and two children.
